K-ON! 12

Finally, K-ON! has reached its end. It's been a while from my last post about ep.06. A new character has been introduced: Azu-nyan. That I must admit, makes a good rival to Mio-chan, but, senpai is senpai. If you like oppai, you go for Mio, if you like pettanko, you go for Azusa. I like both :D

As predicted, the show had taste of short. 12 episodes wasn't enough for our moe needs. But at this rate, they could close it being excellent (if it were too long, it can get fill episodes or worsen).
There was a 次回予告, so there's an extra episode that has already been aired (I'm waiting for a translation to come out).

The plot was, was there a plot? Yui catched a flu from Ritsu (prev. episode), and the day for the festival concert was right at the corner. Anyway, the show was quite straightforward and ended with no one, but TWO songs. The first one was gorgeous! There where new animation angles from the sides in both Mio and Yui (I took screencaps), it was weird to see, but I totally loved Mio's expression of worry when Yui didn't seem to come. Definitively, this time was better than the so expected first concert. Also Sawako-sensei played during the first song with a flying-V. Cool.

Oh my.... <3

Can't wait to see the extra episode. The show was despite of being short, quite good and with tons of moe. Every character was extremely cute, the main four (then five) and even Yui's sister, Ui. It was interesting that there where absolutely none male characters. I think that the only male appearances where a professor in teacher's room and the clerk at the music store. It was a show full of moe girls!

I hope more extra episodes or OAV, K-ON seems to have been a boom in Japan, so they could make lots of money with it. Expect more :3

"Mask" in Japanese

Never in my life thought that I would see 1985's "Mask" in japanese. Epic moment, truly epic. Will be burned in my memory forever.

I use KeyHoleTV to watch japanese TV and practice my hearing. I was watching a dorama in TV Tokyo (ママはニューハーフ), that I found easy to understand at my current japanese level, and followed this movie. I can't understand even 30% of what they say, but, its worth watching ^^

Code Geass R2 - END

"but at a lower pace". Sure..., watched it in two days (10 eps the first day, and the left 15 the following). It was just too addictive to rationalize it. Code Geass has entered to my selective "Favorites" list. I've just finished watching Code Geass R2, and the ending has shocked me.
While different, it has surpassed Eureka Seven in my preference for mechas (I never liked mechas until Eureka Seven).

The show was different from the prequel "Code Geass". The first one was going in one direction, and "R2" did a very big turn (175°) but it conserved its essence. The plot was much more twisted and the story went into a rush, the storyline advanced very fast; but Zero was the same as before, and the battles much more entertaining.

[All that follows are spoilers]

There were less character development (all where introduced in the first series, and R2 hadn't any significant new characters), and some dramas (Shirley's death was shocking, but no so much like when she was Geass'ed).

What was really good was the ending. I wasn't expecting it at all. Never crossed my mind. I was hoping Lelouch to be happy, to live again with his sister. I also wanted some romance between Lelouch and C.C., but that was not going to happen ^^. I'd never wanted Nunally to be a commander, that dissapointed me :S. I thought of Lelouch as a hero, but in the end, he was a hero, but unrecognized. He was the villain to everyone, only Kallen, Suzaku, and Nunally knew the truth, that what Lelouch did, even if questionable, was heroic and brilliant: Lelouch took the place of a villian to gain all the people's hate onto him, and then ordered Suzaku to take Zero's place and kill him, so Zero will reborn as the true hero and the culprit of all death.

But the best part was that the ending was in fact and open ending. No one can say for sure if Lelouch is alive or not, there are different theories about:

*I the end, C.C. is over a wagon and talks about the Geass, but addressing to Lelouch, so, was the wagon driver, Lelouch? She may be talking to the death, very usual in anime.
*The series title is R2, that would be RR. As CC, or VV, that could mean that Lelouch got the full Geass code and he was inmortal, hence he can't die.
*But if so, Suzaku said "I accept the Geass", it could refer metaphorically about Lelouch's comparison between Geass and wishes, or in fact about a real contract between RR and Suzaku, meaning that Suzaku gained a Geass and that Lelouch death was real.
*Orange smiled when Suzaku-Zero advanced towards Lelouch. I don't think Lelouch would disclose his plans to him and expect Orange to take it so easily. So maybe he knows that Lelouch is inmortal.

I still didn't get to whole thing about the Geass code and sigil. The only thing I know is that Charles took VV sigil and he turned inmortal. If Lelouch tooked C.C. code, and turned into R.R., that could turn him inmortal....

What I believe, is based on the final scene. I don't know if C.C. was addressing to Lelouch (the wagon driver), but I know that C.C. wouldn't let Lelouch die without fulfilling her wish. It doesn't matter if she found love, or someone that loves her, she was tired of gathering experiences and wanted to die, even after knowing Lelouch. So the only way that she is so happy resting in there is that Lelouch took C.C. code and turned inmortal, thus C.C. returned to mortal and will die when she gets older. So in my opinion, Lelouch is alive, but resigned everything and will restarted a new life with C.C. A quite sad ending... I think that being alive but forgetting everything is worse than dying. I will post about it later, it's one of my "weak points" on dramas....

What is your theory about the ending?

Python

Yay, I'm getting used to Python ^^
Is the second language that I formally try to learn (first one was PHP). I programmed websites in PHP for a few years now, but decided to migrate to Python since it's more OOP oriented (it is BASED on OOP) and maybe will have more future as a web language.

Also it's great for learning a new paradigm and techniques. I'm studying it at the "Algorithms and Programming I" course on college (the same course is in C, Pascal and others, but I choose Python), but I learn more in my home practicing new scripts. The mini-chat on this blog was done one week after I was introduced to Python ^^.

This is another example, my first code using objects to define a custom class. It's my own implementation of a linked list (lists of data, in PHP called arrays. these are structures that have many values and you can run through a loop or access the values directly with something like var=[0,1,2,3]; or var[2]=2). Python has already the buildin "list" object, but mine is a typical "linked/chained" list. It works like a train of chained cars, each "node" linking the following. It's not as fast as the buildin list object in matters of accessing, but as for random inserting a linked list is better.
It has all the method of the buildin list, so the use is exactly the same from all points of view, just the internal behavior differs.
Also, a derived class, a "sorted linked list (ListaO)", is a linked list that is always sorted, no matter what you do to it. That could come in handy ;)

You're free to use them. The doc is in spanish tough :S

Geeky post, sorry ^^.

Code Geass - END

A new (?) title finished. On a marathon, all 25 eps in one run (plus picture dramas). I *loved* it! I'm about to start Code Geass: R2, but at a lower pace. Lelouch reminded me a lot of Light from Death Note. I think Code Geass has lots in common with Death Note:

*Both protagonist live normal lifes until an unique power is given to them.
*Both use that power for a very radical ideal of justice.
*Both act as omnipotent, and got the same problems and unwanted consequences.
*Both hide their identities and the story turns into a mystery to try to reveal the true one.
*Both are freaking geniuses and strategist.
*Short and nice codenames: Kira/Zero.

I think Light is far more serious on his ideals than Lelouch, but also got quite crazy. He acted as he was some kind of god. Lelouch in more a confused boy, but very inteligent, with a more selfish motivation (his sister).

Also, empires and mechas are far better that a bunch of mediocre policeman, and in Code Geass it isn't a one man -vs- the world, Lelouch is more social and it's a rebellion -vs- an empire. More space for variety in characters (and cute ones, like Nunnally and Euphy).

Death Note was more darky, and more detectives & police -ish. Code Geass is more army, mecha -ish.

Death Note is one of my favorite titles, but Code Geass was really really cool, and can't wait to see the sequel (there were a lot of unsolved mysteries).

Will say after finish it, if it gets into my list of favorites.

QUITE recommended!

PS: one bad thing, too much CLAMP gayish and lesb characters. God kills Nina. Amen.

K-ON! 06

Yay! Finally, the first show! Quite soon by the way, but considering the series is 13 episodes (sadly) long, it's ok. What else to say, this episode was made for Mio-chan fans, wich I include myself into. There is so much kawaii Mio, moe Mio, Mio, Mio and more Mio! :3

It's finally the 学園祭 (school festival), and the first show of the Keion-bu. All are busy with their classroom schedules, except Mio that is extremely nervous thinking she won't be able to sing in front of all the students.
Yui cooks at a yakisoba stand, and Ritcchan works in the counter of a Mansion of Horror game, where Mugi-chan acts (and of course, Mio has to enter that sca~ry place to meet Mugi).
Failed in recruiting the rest of the band to practice before the show, she practices alone in the music room (showing more of his

そろそろ, the time has come. Sawako-sensei pops up some new and gorgeous costumes, wich obviously makes Mio more nervous. And once again, another dosis for Mio lovers, a flashback of Ricchan and Mio 小学校の頃, to let us see how cute she was when little (Did I say this episode has a lot of Mio?)

The song was good, but not at the level of the Op or Ed themes. Also, they showed sort kind of dreamlike MV instead of the band playing the istruments (wich was what I more wanted to see). That was kinda disappointing, I wanted to see Mio singing, some fingers moving at the frets, and some cool Ricchan bridges, like in BECK, Nana, or the concert episode of Suzumiyha Haruhi. There where just a couple of shots showing the band playing on the "MV".
But can't complain, they give something way more interesting. The concert was a success, Mio was in heaven with happiness, but then a very nice "bowl" breaks the moment and draws Mio even more shy.

See it here: [HYT]kHadTp9O24s|*wow*[/HYT]

This was an awesome episode, full of Mio!. I expected K-ON! to be at least a 2-season run, but it only has 13 episodes. I hope the last 7 ones to go smoothly and more interesting!

And another concert scene showing the band playing!

『お風呂にします?お食事にします?それとも、わ・た・し?♡』
Epic and cliche phrase. A common line in daydreams of male characters on tons of anime, live actions and manga, and usual line in doujinshi. I'm not part of that culture, but somehow, it's common to me too. Maybe the ideal for a perfect companion doesn't deppend of culture? Is this a male chauvinist thought? It would translate as something like this: (when your wife welcomes you): "Would you like your dinner, or will you have a bath first? Or do you preffer me?"

Even without the last part... I hope having a woman that welcomes me that way after a long day of work ^^~

I want a Dollfie :(

Mirai-chan
A year ago, I would've said "Dollfie, what's that?". And surely giving none attention if I were told they are dolls. But when I saw Saber-chan at Danny Choo's blog, I fell in love. I didn't know there were such nice and cute dolls out there. All I knew for "dolls" were just... dolls! And the most anthropomorphic one I saw was Barbie.
Japan, once again, delighted me with these cuties. There is a world behind these babies, and while I search more and more, I want one more and more :P

There's a bunch of clothes, accesories, styles, parts (do you like DFC? or preffer oppai?), shoes, weapons. But the more important thing: THEY ARE FRIKING GORGEOUS!

Without wanting to, I saw myself searching prices on japanese online stores. It's a matter of time until I import my first dollfie. I'll search for a local dollfie circle, if there is one, I wonder if there are any cloth designer for dollfies here... ?
Clothes, accessories, and all the necessary items to take care of your dollfie are, a bit expensive for someone like me... and I can't have my dollfie with a birthsuit forever (maybe?) and import every piece from Japan will be troublesome (specially for the customs and the postal clerks stealing my packages ¬¬).

A new item to my GET list... :3

Anime is dangerous

Simply as that. Anime is dangerous for your social health. I have a huge collection of anime, but I haven't seen most of it, I've got hundreds of DVD I've never seen yet..., and lately I've been very busy.

I always wanted to watch those classic shows, like Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Meitantei Conan; the ones that aired when I was little and didn't care for. So in january I devoured Ranma 1/2 in three weeks (all 160 episodes plus OAV). Now I'm watching Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon and Magic Knights Rayearth. I haven't noticed until now, that I've watched 150 Sailor Moon episodes and 20 Magic Knights's in just two weeks. I merely had time to eat and study japanese, I'm quite out of date with my college classes.
Now I want to watch more and more Sailor Moon, end it soon, and get back my time again.
Thanks goodness I only got one or two chapters of Meitantei Conan a week, else I would have been watching 500 episodes nonstop.

Like everything, overdosing is bad. But I really enjoy watching anime (and also watch RAW, so that helps my japanese ^^).

How much anime do you watch?

Soul Eater - END

Another show that ended two weeks ago. What can I say, I really enjoyed Soul Eater. It didn't let me down at any moment. A quality anime (with an incredible animation and production by BONES, the same as Eureka Seven, Wolf's Rain or Full Metal Alchemist) that joined me the last year.

It has suddenly ended, shock! And I mean it: suddenly. The more exciting battle, the big boss battle, lasted 10 minutes? No epilogue, no some-time-after. Some characters where missing (Chrona? Mifune?). The concept was cool, it was a good way to end it, but I would have preferred a slower ending, with more dialogue, more thoughts and some kind of farewell.

Soul Eater, I score it 8/10, it would've been 9 if it weren't for the ending. Will miss you, Maka, Chrona! (my fav. chars)
