A new (?) title finished. On a marathon, all 25 eps in one run (plus picture dramas). I *loved* it! I'm about to start Code Geass: R2, but at a lower pace. Lelouch reminded me a lot of Light from Death Note. I think Code Geass has lots in common with Death Note:
*Both protagonist live normal lifes until an unique power is given to them.
*Both use that power for a very radical ideal of justice.
*Both act as omnipotent, and got the same problems and unwanted consequences.
*Both hide their identities and the story turns into a mystery to try to reveal the true one.
*Both are freaking geniuses and strategist.
*Short and nice codenames: Kira/Zero.
I think Light is far more serious on his ideals than Lelouch, but also got quite crazy. He acted as he was some kind of god. Lelouch in more a confused boy, but very inteligent, with a more selfish motivation (his sister).
Also, empires and mechas are far better that a bunch of mediocre policeman, and in Code Geass it isn't a one man -vs- the world, Lelouch is more social and it's a rebellion -vs- an empire. More space for variety in characters (and cute ones, like Nunnally and Euphy).
Death Note was more darky, and more detectives & police -ish. Code Geass is more army, mecha -ish.
Death Note is one of my favorite titles, but Code Geass was really really cool, and can't wait to see the sequel (there were a lot of unsolved mysteries).
Will say after finish it, if it gets into my list of favorites.
QUITE recommended!
PS: one bad thing, too much CLAMP gayish and lesb characters. God kills Nina. Amen.
